The climate in Turkey in spring and summer

Turkey is a country with hot and dry summers, snowy and cold winters. It stands out for its mountainous climate, which has continental features, as a result of which the Turkish regions have their own special weather conditions. The beginning of the holiday season here refers to April, and its end – to November.

Spring is characterized by flowering and fragrance, as well as comfortable weather. This can be explained by the non-hot sun, which gives people its soft rays. The air feels fresh and the breath is light and relaxed because of this. If a spring thunderstorm thunders, then warm rain will fall, and the air will be saturated with oxygen, that is, unpleasant sensations do not arise.

Consider the weather in spring and summer by month.

March

In the first spring month, the air warms up to 15-17 ° C, but there are also quite warm days with temperatures up to 20 ° C. Temperature indicators of seawater – 17 ⁰C –cool enough. The weather can still be capricious, it rains often, there may be cold days. But things are changing fast. In general, March is characterized by a large number of sunny days.

April

A month with consistently warm weather and an average temperature of a little more than 20 ⁰C. There is an opening of the season in virtually all hotels on the coast, in which vacationers come en masse. At this time, the sea water is rapidly heating up, but people with special tempering are already starting to swim.

The month is characterized by flowering plants in huge numbers. This applies to both cities and resort areas.

May

Especially the excellent first half of the month should be highlighted. It is safe to say that the warm summer season begins. Summer cafes and restaurants, radiating oriental hospitality, delight guests with national and not only cuisine. Mild heat with an average temperature of about 27 ⁰C. The water in the sea heats up more strongly to 20-21 ⁰C.

If you choose spring cities, it is better to give preference:

  • Alanya.
  • Istanbul.
  • Antalya.
  • Marmaris.
  • Belek.
  • Kemer.
  • Side.

June

It’s time to buy last-minute tours to Turkey, as the heat has already come, and there is no sweltering heat yet. There is a rapid filling of hotels with tourists. The average daytime temperature (in the country) is 27 ⁰C-30 ⁰C. At night, it can drop to 18-19 ⁰C. Sea water warms up to 23 ⁰C. For those who do not like the intense heat, this time is the best.

July

The holiday season is in full swing, its peak is coming. It is characterized by high temperatures – up to 33⁰C. Even at night at least 27 ⁰C. Sea water reaches the warmest values – about 28 ⁰C. There is a dry period in most of the Turkish territory. But the cities of Kemer and Beldibi are located near the mountains, so there is an increase in humidity in the evening. The Black Sea coast is characterized by coolness.

August

At this time, even experienced holidaymakers may not feel well. The fault is very hot weather. This month is characterized by daytime temperatures reaching 35 ⁰C, rarely, but sometimes 40 ⁰C. At night – 28-30 ⁰C. Very high humidity level. But the sea will please with very warm water – up to 29 ⁰C. However, this is also for an amateur, someone likes cooler conditions.

In the summer, cities will be the best for recreation:

  • status: Belek, Fethiye, Didim;
  • for families with children: Alanya, Marmaris, Dalaman;
  • youth resorts: Kemer, Marmaris, Bodrum;
  • elderly people: Marmaris, Fethiye, Alanya.

Turkey ranks 6th in the world as the most popular tourist destination. There is hardly a single person who has been there who would not like this country, which welcomes everyone with pleasure.

Last-minute tours to Turkey: features of the choice

Last minute tours have always been popular. Firstly, they are cheaper than standard programs in the same direction. Secondly, they can be used when suddenly there is an opportunity to rest, and you need to fly out in the near future.

Turkey is the most popular destination for residents from the CIS countries. There are several reasons for this. As examples, it is worth considering accessibility in terms of cost, the operation of the all-inclusive system, decent quality of service, a lot of architectural and natural beauty on these lands.

How to choose a good burning tour?

In order to get last-minute tours to Turkey from Moscow, it is necessary to be guided by several parameters, it is about them that we will discuss below.

  1. Reputation and experience of the company, reviews of real customers. The longer a company specializing in the provision of tourist services works on the market, the higher their quality. At least she’s already on thetala has certain knowledge and skills in this area and can organize a trip at a decent level. As for the responses, it is recommended to watch them not on the official website of the company, but on third-party resources so that they are as honest and transparent as possible.

  2. Aircraft and cabin class, route. It is important to go on a flight on a good aircraft in a business class or first class cabin. Even if this is an economy option, it should be cozy and assume a good interior design, neatness and cleanliness. As for the route, it assumes a time frame, a point of departure and arrival, and connections. It is desirable that this aspect be extremely convenient.

  3. The star rating of the hotel. The number of services provided and their quality depend on it. In particular, these are living conditions (size and equipment of rooms), food, entertainment and recreation. It is also important to take into account that the company can provide additional services, for example, for a fee or as a compliment for guests.

Thus, it is not difficult to choose a suitable tour and company, the main thing is to follow the key rules and recommendations presented in this material and in other reliable reliable sources.

Circumnavigation of Turkey: a 10-day car route

After the start of the pandemic, another one was added to the standard associations with Turkey — Istanbul, all inclusive and bloggers against the background of balloons: the country of transfers.

Meanwhile, Turkey itself deserves much more attention than it is customary to pay to it. Hidden in the depths of the country are locations and attractions that can surprise even seasoned travelers. Here is a simple but interesting route for 10 days.

You can start a round-the-world tour of Turkey from Istanbul. The cost of the flight is 10,400 rubles * per person round trip. Car rental will cost a traveler from 2000 rubles * per day.

It takes about two hours to move from Istanbul to Kerpe. This is one of the smallest resorts on the Black Sea coast of Turkey. It is famous for its picturesque rocky coast, indented by large grottoes and small caves. This relief is the result of thousands of years of efforts by the tides of the Black Sea. The rock complex looks especially photogenic in side lighting — at dawn or sunset. In the summer months, vacationers dive into the clear water directly from the rocks, although it is not very safe. And of course, rock climbers train on the steep walls all year round.

200 km south-east of Kerpe is the city Nallyhan. By itself, it is not particularly interesting, but there is a Saryar reservoir 20 minutes away. From its shores there is an amazing view of rainbow hills, almost like in Peru. Red, brown, yellow and gray are the predominant colors of the surrounding landscape, which was formed due to tectonic activity and the variety of minerals in the bowels of this area. You can drive up to the hills and even try to climb one of them. When viewed from above, the relief resembles a section of smoky agate. This place is still little known to tourists, which is good for curious travelers — there are always a few people here.

But on ace lakethat 250 km from the hills and an hour and a half drive from Ankara, there are much more visitors. This is the second largest freshwater reservoir in Turkey, but unlike the first, Lake Van, it is not deep at all. The salinity of the water of the Ace reaches 340 %, that is, the saturation with sodium chloride is much higher here than in the Dead Sea. A distinctive feature of the lake is that the water is literally teeming with saltwater unicellular, which color the reservoir in shades of red: from saturated fuchsia to a delicate purple color – depending on the time of year and the amount of precipitation. Obviously, in order to finish off visitors with the aesthetics of pink, flamingos sometimes fly to the lake. Travelers share information that most often they can be found in the southern part of the reservoir. But the appearance of sunset children always remains an unpredictable attraction and defies forecasts.

An hour and a half drive from the southern point of the Ace there is another little-known, but very unusual reservoir: crater lake Meke. It was formed in the mouth of the Karapinar volcano. The last lava ejection about eight thousand years ago formed another cone inside the crater, which looks like a fortress surrounded by a moat with salt water.

However, you can only see this “moat” after heavy rains: the groundwater level in the region is critically low and only internal resources are not enough to maintain the lake in its original flooded form. Despite this, such a “probe” of the crater lake will be of interest to those who cannot yet get to the Krenitsyn volcano on the Kuril Islands.

Erciyes Stratovolcanorelated to The Taurus Mountains, only a few hundred meters short of the title of a four-thousandth, but nevertheless is one of the most famous Turkish ski resorts. The most beautiful thing here is the mountains themselves. And to get to know them better, it is best to choose one of the hiking routes Aladaglar Nature Parkrocky slopes, steep ascents and equally steep descents are a real gift for those who love hiking. If they don’t attract you yet, you can limit yourself to getting acquainted with amazing Kapuzbashi waterfallslocated almost in the center of the mountain range. This is a natural complex consisting of seven waterfalls, each of which is unique. And you can just drive through the mountains on a flat toll road and feel like traveling through the Rocky Mountains of the USA.

It will take six hours and about 400 km to move to the north of the country, to the center of the province Amasya — the city of the same name with a population of about 80,000 inhabitants. The settlement itself is located at the bottom of the valley under the slope of Harshena Mountain. It stretches along the banks of the Yeshilyrmak River and is famous only for the abundant harvest of apples. The Turks even call Amasya the apple capital of Turkey. But just north of the city, on the rocky slope of Harshen, you can find carved in stone tombs of the Pontic kings. They differ from similar ones in Lycia and other places in that they have external walls, that is, in fact, they are separate structures cut down inside the rock. An ancient fortress is being restored at the top of Harshen, and at the eastern entrance to the city you can see the remains of an ancient aqueduct.

The next three days will be spent in the north-east of the country, which looks a little like Turkey. Rather, some kind of crazy mix of Norway and Ceylon, Switzerland and Bali — all this is primarily about Rize Province. This region is most famous for its tea plantations: it is here that the Turkish tea is grown.

This is the main source of income for the province and the main tourist “chip”, which in recent years the authorities hope to attract travelers. Surroundings of the main town of Rize — Pontic Ridges – drown in the greenery of mountain forests and flowering meadows, suspiciously reminiscent of alpine – even the houses are the same! Streams and rivers run along the slopes, and snow-capped peaks of three thousand meters can be seen above the tea gardens. 50,000 hectares of the province’s land is occupied by the Kachkar Ecological Protected Park — all these beauties are on its territory. And an hour’s drive from the coastal Rize is Palovit waterfall, which is like two drops of water similar to the Balinese Nung-Nung.

In the next room Trabzon Province the relief of the Pontic Mountains has created one of the most impressive sights of the Black Sea region — Uzungel Lake Valley. It looks, of course, not at all like a Turkish lake, but as part of some Norwegian fjord, there is even a trout farm. On the shore of Uzungel there is a small village full of fish restaurants and offers for tourists: fishing, river rafting, trekking and other popular activities. Basically, people go hiking in the mountains here and it is quite convenient to do it: there is no need to sleep in tents — there are many small chalet hotels in the vicinity. For example, there is a hotel along the Demirkapi River Sekersu Hotel. The room can be booked for 3100 rubles* per person.

Another breathtaking location of the province of Trabzon — Panagia Sumela Monastery. It was built more than 1,500 years ago right inside a chalk cliff, literally on a cliff. There were many sad pages in the history of this place, it is a miracle that the complex has survived to this day.

It stands, although, rather, it hangs today at an altitude of 1300 meters above sea level, sparkling with its red tiled roof and masonry, as if it came here from Prague.

It seems that a trip to non-banal locations in Turkey can replace a visit to almost a dozen other countries and regions. At least for a while, until the world is fully open to travelers again.

Tazy Canyon in Turkey – a miracle of nature

One of the most picturesque natural places in Turkey is Tazy Canyon. Without exaggeration – this place can be called a miracle of nature! It is impossible to remain indifferent here, your heart will be touched by this power and beauty!

Tazy Canyon in Turkey is located in the national Park of Kepryul Canyon, towards the city of Serik.

We drove a rented car. I also advise you to go on your own, and not by an excursion, where you will be limited in time. Because in this place you will definitely want to stay longer, enjoying the moment.

The road to the Canyon itself is already an exciting journey, because along the way you will come across beautiful mountain landscapes, where you will also want to stop to admire these beauties.

Parking space

How to get to Taza Canyon, see below. Upon reaching the place, there will be Parking (free).

Cafe

There is a cafe right next to the parking lot. It’s quite modest, but you can drink tea with a flatbread.

You will also be offered ATVs and buggies for rent.

We did not take it, went on foot, the road is not far. The distance from the parking lot to the observation deck is 2 km. In addition, you can only get to the next cafe on an ATV, and then you will need to walk.

So, after parking, you need to walk a little, and you will come across another cafe. From this point, follow further up the mountain, and you will come to the canyon.

Tazy Canyon Observation Deck

Climbing up the mountain to the observation deck of the Tazy Canyon, nature has prepared spectacular scenic views for our eyes. There are many points on the top, and from each of them there are different landscapes: high mountains covered with greenery, stretching into the distance, a turquoise winding river between the mountains. The energy here is powerful, it is felt immediately. I am overwhelmed with different emotions from what I saw. It is a good opportunity to connect with nature and get fed up with its energy. And what kind of photos are obtained here! Mmm…)

But! Be vigilant, there are very steep cliffs, you can slip.

On the way back, already descending from the Canyon by car, we stopped by the river. This location also pleased with its abundance. Plus, it was nice to swim here, the water is unrealistically clean.

How to get to Taza Canyon

The canyon is located a little further from the Köprülü Canyon, near the village of Gaziler Köyü. We were driving from Alanya, it’s about 156 km. Travel time is about 3 hours. We drove past Manavgat. Follow the signs of Tazi kanyon, they come across along the way. The distance from Antalya is about 124 km. Travel time is about 2 hours and 40 minutes.

There is a separate article about the Kepryulu Canyon: The picturesque Kepryulu Canyon in Turkey.

Entrance to the canyon is free (for 2021).

A few tips:

  • Drive a rented car so as not to limit yourself in time.
  • Take drinking water with you, because there was no opportunity to buy it somewhere. There are 2 modest cafes.
  • If it’s summer (June-August), choose an early time until it’s too hot.

Picturesque and exciting views for you!

Life in Turkey: interview with a local resident

Traveling around the world you get to know different interesting people. During my trip to Turkey, I met a cheerful and sociable young man who moved from Kazakhstan to Turkey at one time. He shared some secrets from the life of Turks, and told why Russians live in Turkey and what it takes to stay for permanent residence in Turkey.

– Tell me about yourself.

– My name is Timur. I have been living in Turkey since 1997, and was born in Kazakhstan. I work in the field of tourism in the Turkish resort town of Marmaris. In winter I work in Antalya as a realtor, I sell and rent real estate.

— Why do the locals love Turkey?

– The locals are patriots, they love their homeland very much. And where does this patriotism come from?… I have been to many countries, and in Turkey, in my opinion, people have a sense of the value of their family, relatives, they are a mountain for each other, which is not in every country and not in every nation. Many locals support their nation, but this does not mean that they are Nazis. There are a lot of nationalities living here: Kurds, Armenians, Georgians, Russians, Kazakhs, Turks. And the locals respect all nations, there is no division.

— There are many Russians living in Turkey. Why are they going to this country?

– Since I work as a realtor, I asked this question to those who have already moved. Nature, climate, beauty, even because of the costs it is more profitable to live here than in Russia or just spend the winter. Moreover, everything is twice cheaper in Turkey in winter. Russian Russians even have a whole district in Antalya, where there are shops, restaurants, three schools in Russian. In general, there are all conditions to live in Turkey for Russians. Some Russians come to winter from Moscow and St. Petersburg, they rent an apartment in Russia and live here on this budget. Also, I want to say that the prices for the purchase of real estate are cheaper than in Russia.

— What do you need to get permanent residence in Turkey?

– I will say that there are no difficulties in this. If you purchase real estate, you are automatically issued a residence permit, this is a document that gives you the right to stay in Turkey as long as you want. But if you sell real estate, this document is withdrawn. If you don’t have your own property, then you need to get a tourist visa and you can live in Turkey.

— What is the situation with medicine in Turkey?

— Every local resident has insurance. At the same time, it is issued by the employer, but if a person does not work or does not work officially, then he issues it himself. The insurance also applies to the whole family. For example, I have insurance and it is valid for my mother, wife, and children.

— Many Russians are happy to go on vacation to Turkey. Do Turks visit Russia for recreation, travel?

— Many Turks visit this country, but not for recreation, but for business and work purposes. For example, take any construction company in Russia, it is 70-80% Turks. In addition, the trade turnover between Turkey and Russia is very large. A lot of fruits and vegetables from Turkey go to Russia.

– In 2015 and 2016, the entry of Russians to Turkey was closed. How has this affected tourism in Turkey?

– Turkey has met almost 4-4.5 million tourists from Russia during the season. Certain people suffered who were engaged only in the Russian group of tourists. But these are units, and these are insignificant losses for the state. But the state has replaced the absence of Russian tourists with another group of tourists: Arabs, Pakistanis, Europeans. Russian Russian travel agencies that have booked 3 years in advance, there are certain hotels that fundamentally work with Russians, and of course they have suffered. And in general, the state suffered little damage.

— When the tourism season ends in Turkey, what do people working in this field do? What do they earn?

— Everyone is different, who is capable of what. Who is on the construction site, who is the director. Someone is going abroad. There are also those who, having earned a certain budget for the tourism season, simply rest in winter and do not work.

— Where do the locals of Turkey prefer to relax and travel?

– For example, I love the Tien Shan Mountains, ski resorts, just in Bursa, there is a ski base closer to Istanbul. I want to say that a person gets tired of monotony, and even wants to change the sea to another type of recreation. In general, Turks are not lovers of rest. For example, if you take statistics, about 7-8% of Turks leave the country every year, this includes Mecca and Arab countries, and keep in mind that mostly 6-7% go to Mecca. Locals like to relax in Turkey, there is everything here: the sea, beaches, mountains, sights, shopping. Each city is versatile, Antalya is a beach holiday, Istanbul is a historical side and shopping, Bodrum is a more advanced, Europized city. And Turks like to relax in Bodrum, Fethiye and Marmaris.

— Do you like to travel? What does it give you?

— I don’t like to fly on airplanes. But I like to travel both long distances, for example, by car, and traveling by bike. Travel gives me energy, I understand the meaning of life, every journey opens a new gate for me, and I learn something new.

– Your wishes to travelers and tourists.

– I wish that you always meet good, sympathetic, kind people on your journey. Good luck, love, happiness, health and do not get sick on vacation! Take a positive with you, with what mood you will be, and your rest will pass. You can go to the golden mountains and find a piece of iron there, or you can see a mountain of gold in an ordinary place and get a lot of positive and energy. As a person will tune in to rest, so rest will pass!

The majestic ancient city of Ephesus in Turkey

Admire the ancient cities that have been preserved and have survived to the present day. One of these is the city of Ephesus — the largest ancient city in Turkey, and the second most important ancient city in the Mediterranean after Pompeii.

Ephesus is one of the most visited attractions in Turkey. I think this place is definitely worth visiting while in this country. Just imagine, the city of Ephesus was created in the 2nd millennium BC by the Ionians and has survived to this day in good preservation. Two hundred thousand people once lived here. The city became famous all over the world thanks to one of the seven wonders of the world – the Temple of Artemis in Ephesus, who was considered the goddess of fertility. To date, only one column has been preserved from the temple. The city of Ephesus is also a former center of early Christianity. The life of the Apostle Paul took place here, he preached right there, and in this place the earthly path of the Virgin Mary ended.

When you get to the ancient city of Ephesus and walk along its marble streets between ancient buildings, you seem to be soaked in the time when the city was alive, and then an amazing, but at the same time unforgettable feeling of admiration covers you.

Varius Thermae

Acquaintance with the ancient city of Ephesus begins with the preserved thermae Varius.

Odeon Theatre

There is also a small Odeon theater, from the height of which you can see stunning views of the Varius baths in combination with green mountains.

Kuretov Avenue

There is the longest and most majestic street in the city — Kuretov Avenue, along which you will have to walk. It is decorated with columns, sculptures, mosaics and the remains of residential buildings.

Library Celsius

The Celsius Library deserves great attention, from which the two-tiered facade with columns has been preserved. On the first tier, the columns symbolize Virtue and Justice. The library is named after the architect’s father of this building.

Brothel

A brothel is connected to the library by a passage underground. This is done in order for men to hide from their wives where they are going, saying that they are going to the library.

The Temple of Adriana

From the majestic structure of the Temple of Adriana, two central columns supporting the arch remained. The elegance of the sculptural ornament catches the eye. And once there were sculptures dedicated to the Roman emperors in front of the Temple.

Antique Amphitheater

The preserved ancient Amphitheater, accommodating up to 25 thousand spectators, is impressive. In the Roman era, gladiatorial fights took place here. And thanks to the excellent acoustics, it is clearly audible, both on all tiers and outside the hall.

Temple of Artemis in Ephesus

Unfortunately, only one column has survived from the famous Temple of Artemis in Ephesus, which is one of the seven wonders of the world, where the stork is so conveniently located. And there were only 127 columns that supported the roof of marble slabs. In the Istanbul miniature park there is a mini-replica of the temple of Artemis, respectively, there you can see how it looked before.

How great it is in the modern world to go back to ancient times and get an idea of the past splendor of ancient times.

TIPS for a trip to the city of Ephesus:

  • If you can’t stand the heat, choose the months when there is no scorching sun: May-early June and September-October. At this time, there will not be as many tourists as in the season itself (July-August).
  • Drinking water
  • Comfortable shoes
  • In hot weather, sunscreen, there is nowhere to hide from the sun

I wish you bright impressions!
